After a while I got to understand some of the “typical” geocache hides and thought I would share one with you to help you get your geosense.
This geocache blog post has the most common example that you should look out for: ”The Lamp Post Cache” hide. This is often called an LPC.
Here is a typical lamp post….take a look at the base of the lamppost with that nice square base. In many cases, it moves and can be lifted up. If a geocache coordinates takes you in this direction, then try the lamppost.

When you get to the lamp post, lift up that base unit and will often find a little geocache hide in there. It could be an old 35m film canister or maybe a magnetic device. Have a feel on the inside wall as it could be hidden magnetically.

Congratulations on getting your geosense built up for the traditional lamppost geocache hide.
